It has definitely been a hot minute since I made my last blog post. I told myself I was going to get out of my comfort zone and post monthly - yet a year later I am just now reposting. Real estate has been CRAZY! And my husband wanted to get into the real estate world - statistics show 90% of millionaires are involved in real estate so I guess I understand his motive. Being the good supportive wife and his personal real estate agent, we found a house and got started. I have always told clients that remodeling a house with a significant other will test your relationship and religion and didn't know I would be taking my own advice so soon!! Boy has it been a ride - thankfully he has let me pick out almost everything with little push back and he does all the manual labor. We are almost done with the painting and haven't strangled each other yet so I call that a win. He has a goal-oriented personality and is always all in when he decides to go for it. I think that has been the most challenging part - juggling working all day to go and work all night. Add mental exhaustion and painting kitchen cabinets white and you will see how strong your marriage is :). In all seriousness, we have got to spend more time together. My advice to everyone else getting into the business with your life partner - manage expectations, be able to set boundaries, and be flexible!! Resentment is ugly and I don't want that in my marriage - I have had to remind him I am not one of his employees (in a loving tone of course LOL ). Flexibility - oh I could talk about this one in a complete separate post. Understand things are going to come off the tracks at some point and it is you working together not against each other. Tensions get high and stressful when time means money, but ENJOY the RIDE! No better way to get some quality relationship building in!
